I am an interior designer who has moved and have questions about how to restart my career, there are complications!?

I moved to a new state and had worked for my old friend as an interior designer for 10 years. I tried to find work in this field and has been honest in my resume on my work above. Can anyone give me advice on how to restart my career in a new place. With my ex gives me a bad reference, I have not had luck with the local design studios. I very good at what I do and have resorted to doing office work until you can resolve this problem .. All ideas will be very apprceiated.

OK, this is not easy. Unfortunately, you're stuck with this reference. But you might want to take a different approach to apply for jobs. Do you have a portfolio of your work? Get It Together and take it with you at the interview. Are there customers who have done the work that would be willing to give a letter of recommendation or reference to? Do you have a degree in interior design? If it is good thing, but you may have to swallow your pride and have a lower level until you prove that you are. Be honest when you interview. The work of a statement that you can use to explain your situation before. For example: I worked at XYZ Company for ten years. While employed in a personal relationship with the owner. Our personal relationship ended on bad terms and if you contact will probably give a poor professional reference. If has customers or employees of other loans to go to bat for you then you can still say something like I do, however, I have a portfolio of my work and various letters of recommendation from clients of mine. Here is a list of names and phone numbers of customers willing to talk to you on my behalf to attest to my skills. Good luck to you. I hope everything goes well.
