Job Offer

job offer
How do you know when a job offer is too good to pass?

I'm happy with my current job. Recently (Overview of British Columbia layoffs at the company), I sent my resume to another company. I interviewed with this company a couple of weeks later, and now offered the position is $ 20K more than they do now (currently $ 45K). I think the focus of my current employer and try to offer against the offer I received. Is this a good idea? How do you know when a job is worth taking, not the money really inspired all the decisions?

I have read a bit about this in the past years, and I think the conventional wisdom among human resource managers is not chasing you with a better offer (there are exceptions, of course, and I'm sure a lot depends its value to the company). They have because they are not loyal to any particular employee. I would try, but only if I was willing to accept the new job and if they decline. You do not want to bluff in a case like this, since it will jeopardize your current situation – especially in view of the disparity between wages large enough … I guess negotiations for an increase of ~ 50% will be a remote possibility.
