How can someone distiguish a job ad that is legit from one that is just posted for legal purposes?
I have wasted so much time and effort and energy answering ads and going to interviews with major corporations who only run through the motions to keep from breaking employment laws: they have already chosen the internal person that they want to give the job to. It’s such a waste of time! Does anyone know how to spot these ads from the real thing?
This is a more common practice actually. In fact, even the United Nations agencies routinely posts job openings, even if they already have someone inside appointed to the post.
I don’t think there is a way you can really check out if the job opening is really for a job looking for outside applicants or not. All you can do is to check with the human resource department of the company and ask them if this is really a job opening, or whether someone inside is being considered for the post. Most likely they will not tell you, but all you can do is to try.
