NYC tax on my salary, my responsibility or my employer?

I just got my salary and my second boss says I should do my own taxes. How am I going to do and it is legal for my employer does not himself? I never filled out a Form W I have no benefits, but for a student to pay kicks ass. I I'm not complaining, just wondering if this is legal. And what are my chances of the IRS notice if I was not in the details of taxes?

If you is an employee, not legal. If you are an independent contractor, then it is. The IRS has strict rules about determining who is an employee and who is not. You should expect to pay between 25% and 40% of total revenue for the concert of the contract. The rate of self-employment is only 15.3% on revenue network and then you have to pay tax on top of that. Do not forget New York and the income tax and New York. You'll have to do the same those!
