Employer Database

How do you know if a former employer stab me in the back?
In a local television station, said that employers could mean false information about you in a computer database. Where is this database? How I can know what they say? When I had a check background about six years ago, it was clean. Is this separate database for verifying the story? Someone suggested that this may be the case. Thank you.
Have a friend call and ask a working reference. If they say bad things, get a private investigator to check references for you. Then use his testimony against the company to sue or at least threaten them.
