My employer has not complied with the number you wrote on the exemption from withholding tax. Illegal law?
I think it is their responsibility to respect what I said, but they said it is quite who number using withholding tax. I live in New York. I think it is their responsibility to respect what I said but said that was totally them the number they use to tax at source. The exemption number for my W4 and IT2104 (NY) were different, but they apply to the number W4. I wonder if it is illegal is beside my emplyer.
New York State specifically allows your employer to base their denial of the State of New York City New York and taxes for the city of Yonkers in the number of withholding allowances you claim on your Federal W-4. Under these conditions, your employer may ignore a number different allowances are claimed on Form IT State 2104. Employers are encouraged to use Form IT-2104, as "ensure greater accuracy in the quantities retention, but this is not mandatory. Crazy, huh?
