Coaching career: Seven mistakes to avoid the big career change
Are you considering a major change in your career? Sorry to disappoint you you are bored, burned out? Perhaps you think there is something bigger and more significant than is supposed to do. Maybe your company will be reduced in this situation. Any Whatever the reason, there are some common mistakes to avoid while you evaluate and select career options. Avoid these traps and can stay motivated, keep your balance and move forward successfully.
Error # 1 – Decision-making in Haste
Tempted to leave alone and the wing? Everyone here is here, but unless you can not take another day your current situation, resist! Instead, write down everything you love about your current situation, and then one by one, to examine matters more intolerable and see how you can turn each one to make it more bearable for now.
It is easy for the future with enthusiasm that you decide to forward without a plan, and hope for the course their way into the future. It takes more energy to maintain your new career and do the work for you and allow you determine and implement it. It is better to come from a place of greater power and stability of raw and burned or worried about how you will pay the bills. Consider seeking Use a qualified career coach, career life coach or counselor to help you identify your next career path. One of the objectives, training others can help develop strategies and live in the best results and less pain.
Error # 2 – Ignoring Finance
"I can not anymore! I'd rather eat dog food to put up with another date! "Whether you are pursuing a new career, voluntarily or involuntarily, should pay the bills. Make your dream. Not finding a career that brings out the best. If you have a lot of savings, good for you! Resist the temptation to go there and find no. If you have a dream, by all means stick with it! But if it was unrealistic to abandon the field to three years, find another way to earn a living in the meantime. The need of income is a reality we can not ignore.
Error # 3 – Fill the head in the negative things
What are you reading? What do you think of the TV or Internet? Who do you spend your free time? Looking for life's major career changes, you need a lot of positive energy around you. If you spend time with negative people or fill your mind of all that is not useful, guess what? It fills you with negative energy. Instead, surround yourself people and things that give you positive energy and encouraging. Read books that inspire you and encourage you. Travel inspire you. Do all you can be whatever you want to be like after have the opportunity to land next race, and are more likely to attract in your life!
Error # 4 – bogged down by the decisions
If you are an intelligent person who has had some success, it is likely that there are many different options that can be done in his other major life or career change. Often customers tell me they feel overwhelmed by all the thoughts and ideas that continue to operate in mind. And the rules, so overwhelming, it is very easy to simply close. As we worked together, I remind clients to take difficult decisions to wonder, "Is this going to make me go?" If the answer is yes, continue. If the answer is no, either to review the decision or leave altogether.
Error # five – do not have a plan
There are two reasons this is important. First, life is unpredictable and dangerous to leave the security agreement before the race day, are ranked. Second, a career change is a bit like dating. You are always more desirable when they are available. You are more attractive to a potential employer if you are working. And if you have lost their jobs voluntarily or involuntarily, is even more important to have a plan to later are more likely to achieve. If you see the success to be successful. (For Conversely, if you do not have a plan, how do you do when you have succeeded?)
Error # 6 – End the preparation of its too early
All I can say is that here, prepare, prepare, prepare. If you are looking at several possibilities, do not drop immediately after another look. Think of all the great events that are life (college entrance exams, certification exams end) and how they prepared for. Did you study to move forward and take a big break, long before taking the exam? Or you can even read the documents you entered the door the day of the test, wondering if I could better prepared to follow? When you start a new career or life change, give all their energy, skills and attention. If you have one goal in mind, resist expansion when you think you have almost. Prepare and right to stay strong until the day before you start. This will help prevent the loss of confidence in the last minute.
Error # 7 – are too easily discouraged
Does this happen to you when faced with obstacles in the middle of your goal? Instead of giving rise to pain, pay attention to what is specifically make you uncomfortable and make adjustments to pass through. For example, if you are in transition career and finding which complicates go through the hassle of making phone calls, sending resumes, interviews courses where competition is fierce, etc, to find formula that gives a break without interrupting the process. Try to spend one or two hours each morning to these tasks and let go for the rest of the day, or simply do a number phone call or go interview a week so that when you are finished, you can feel good about giving a few days of rest. Do not stop. Adjustment.
Remember that a career change is a change of life. Not reach its current level of education and experience from one day to another, and not be disappointed if you do not find immediately "thing" you want to do next. Allow time and space to explore and make an informed decision. Getting the help you need the road (ie, career coach, career guidance counselor) to help you do it strategically, not emotionally. If you avoid these errors is much more likely to find a new career that complements and fills your life.
